Fellow fishermen, please look and see on the photo gallery page the winner of our 2010 voucher boat. The winner is Chris Ponce de Leon. He had the winning bid on the boat. One of the pictures is Chris and is son Ethan. Ethan was very excited about the new Ranger Z521. Chris winning bid was for the 208. He received his certificate for the 208 and went to Ludwig Brothers Marine in Farmerville and upgrade the 208 to the Z521. The motor is a Yamaha HPDI 250 that was also upgraded from the 225. The electronics on the boat are HDS-10, HDS-7, HDS-5, and a Structure Scan unit.
As you can see with our partners, our state Ranger Dealers, Ranger Boats, Yamaha Motors, Evinrude Motors, FLW, and Lowrance Electroincs we are able to offer to our members the best product available on the market. If you are not a member of Louisiana Bass Federation then I encourage you to contact the Director in your area. Join us and become a member of the best fishing, youth and conservation organization out there.
May all your weigh bags be heavy

Fellow Fishermen,
I would like to talk to you about some of the things that are happening in our state and what is coming up in the future. In December the board had their annual meeting in Alexandria. The board talked about what had happened during the year and what it needed to do for the year 2010. The number one thing that the board talked about was membership, how to improve it and how to make sure that we grow each year. The board had a lot of ideas on how to improve on what we have been doing but, the one thing that came up the most was how to improve our qualifying tournament. We talked about different tournament locations, number of tournaments each year, and number of people participating in our qualifying tournament. We have moved the tournament site around in the state for the first 4 tournaments. We had about the same number of fishermen at each of these events, about 30 fishermen. One of the board members made a motion that we try three qualifying tournaments for 2010. There would be two one day tournaments and have our third tournament on the date that we have had in the past ( third weekend of September ). Each of these tournaments would be held in a different district each year. The board discussed this motion at length and added that if there was a poor response from the members and a small number of entries we would go back and talk about what to do. There were less than twelve members who sent in their money for the first qualifier and the board received a large number of complaints about the format. I called an executive board meeting and we did this by conference call. We talked about what was going on in each district. The first thing was how much growth or decline in membership. Then each director was asked about his district on membership. There was only one district that showed any growth. The other four had from 50% to 80% decline. The number one reason for the fall of membership in the four districts was the three tournament format. I made a motion that we table the three tournament format for this year and go to our membership and ask what they would like to see in the future. Again this was discussed at length and the motion passed. So for 2010 we will fish only one qualifier and it will be in district five, the third weekend of September. You, as members, will be receiving letters about what you would like to see happen with our qualifier. These letters will be mailed out later in the year. Whether we have one, two, three, or more than that. We will always have one tournament the third weekend of September because of the agreements with other tournament groups.
We will sign our agreements with Ranger Boats, Lowrance, ( at this time Lowrance has not made any offers yet. Will probably have theirs at the Presidents meeting in March), Evinrude, and Yamaha Motors. We already have our agreement with Pure Fishing. If you want anything from Pure Fishing please e-mail me and we can put your order together.
We now have this wonderful web site up and running. We are asking that you communicate with your director in your district on anything that you feel will help with our growth and make us a better organization in our state. Please e-mail them with your comments.
In closing, I would like to thank each of you for your support of this organization. If we are going to grow, support youth events, and conservation programs in our state and in other states then we need you. You are our most important resource.

2009
Louisiana Bass Federation held the 2-day qualifying tournament on the Red River in Pool 5 just south of Shreveport for September 19th-20th with Thursday and Friday as the official practice days. The tournament launched out of Red River South where the 2009 Bassmaster Classic was held. Conditions seemed to be pretty good for the practice days with most competitors reporting good catches. But that all changed in hurry when muddy and high water moved in the day before the start of the tournament. As the water conditions changed the catches fell drasitically with several competitors failing to catch a weigh fish either Saturday or Sunday, and several anglers failed to catch a single weigh fish for the tournament. It seemed most of the fish were found suspended on wood, and some were found around grass or pads in pool 4.
